DC Net^2 Tuesday: miriam’s kitchen
By Brian Rowe | August 18, 2009
The focus of this month’s DC Net^2 Tuesday is focusing on a DC nonprofit, miriam’s kitchen (MK), fund raising.
Here are some of the suggestions I made:
- Expand you Meta Data: Keywords & Description should be added to the site the Page rank is good but they are not showing up in the right searches
- Use social media on your site: MK has a great flickr account about it is not used on their site, add a widget with thumbnails of recent photos
- Ask occasionally only: when asking for donations do not ask all the time keep the real content the focus
- Try several ideas and see what sticks, the transational cost of trying things online is low try and try again
Here are some of the best suggestions from other net^2 members:
- Use unique landing pages for different sources of traffic
- email newsletter sign ups should be simple just ask for email
- Share your best practices on related blogs (Sarah’s Idea)
- Short youtube videos on cooking
- talk to local students at local colleges students to look at your stats and help see what is working
- Set deadline on giving campaign and promote the end goal
- Check out neworganizing.com
This was one of the better Net^2 events that I have been to.
PS: open the wifi!!! if you want us to blog and promote cool ideas the venue must have open wifi.
