Grade Breakdown:

Class participation: 15%

Presentation 15%:

Short Form Blog Post: 10%

Long Form Blog Post: 20%

Group Project: 40%

Extra Credit: .2 grade points

All assignments are on a 4.0 point scale unless otherwise noted.  The highest grade students can receive is a 4.0.

All post start at 1.1 a post must earn at least 2.5 to pass, the max grade is 4.0

Topic:
Is the post clearly named? .1

Hack the format: if you wish do to do this assignment in an alternative format like a video, info graphic or song you must also talk to me in advance for approval and display all of the main concepts in the alternative format.

-2 point bellow 90 = .1 less  on a 4.0 scale

This will be be graded very formally. The speech does not need to be memorized, you may choose to use very limited notes. These presentations should not be read directly from slides or from notes.

Recommendations:

  • practice at least 3 times with a timer in front of at least one other person
  • give the talk to a friend not familiar with the topic to see if they understand the ideas you are trying to communicate
  • write out a list of possible questions with answers in advance
